Jamila is a recent graduate of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of North Georgia, who complete her practicum and internships with StorieBrook. We loved her so much that we invited her to join our practice full time upon graduation!
*Jamila is under the Direction and Supervision of Rachel Anne Kieran, PsyD.
My path began with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising from California State University, Long Beach. After graduation, I worked as a stylist assisting women navigating significant life transitions, such as new motherhood or re-entering the workforce. Through these experiences, I realized that while helping women feel confident in their appearance was rewarding, true transformation starts from within. This insight inspired me to shift my focus from external appearances to internal healing, leading me to pursue a career in mental health counseling.
In my therapeutic practice, I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen and empowered. I am particularly passionate about working with those struggling with life transitions, self-esteem, body image, grief, anxiety, and depression. While I am still learning my approach, I want to emphasize the importance of the therapeutic relationship in fostering growth and resilience. Additionally, I have a deep love for animals and am pursuing specialized training in animal-assisted therapy. I believe that incorporating therapy animals into counseling sessions can enhance the healing process by providing comfort, building trust, and facilitating emotional expression.
Outside of the counseling room, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, exploring new restaurants, visiting museums, traveling, going for nature walks, attending sound baths, and engaging in meaningful conversations. I also enjoy arts and crafts, painting, and photography.
I look forward to walking alongside you on your counseling journey and am honored to be part of your process toward growth and healing.

Jamila is currently not in-network for any insurance providers, which means that she cannot bill your insurance company directly for your sessions. However, like all of our providers, Jamila can provide a receipt (often referred to as a "superbill") for private pay services. These receipts contain all the details you need to request reimbursement for OUT-of-NETWORK costs from your insurance provider.
If you are engaging with us for services for which we cannot bill insurance, or with a provider who cannot bill your insurance), this is the best way to work with your insurance company to get this covered.
Because of our small size and billing arrangements with Headway, StorieBrook CANNOT bill insurance for:
Assessments (including pre-surgical, gender affirming care, neurotype, or any other time limited services
Support groups (or any other non-therapy services)
Relationship therapy or counseling
