*Charlotte is under the Direction and Supervision of Rachel Anne Kieran, PsyD and Melvin Tillman, PhD consistent with GA Rule 135.
Charlotte holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University. She completed her practicum and internship at The Center for Growth in Philadelphia. During graduate school, Charlotte contributed as an author to work on, and completed her capstone project focused on best practices for therapists to support healthy sexual value development in late adolescents who identify as women.
Prior to her counseling career, Charlotte earned a B.A. in political science from Vanderbilt University and worked in the field, first on Capitol Hill and then for a start-up dedicated to promoting nonpartisan voter education. Originally from New York City and London, England, Charlotte lived in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia before relocating to Atlanta three years ago. Charlotte and her Labrador retriever, Oscar, are a certified pet therapy team through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATC).
As a therapist, I am warm, collaborative, empathetic, and open-minded, dedicated to understanding your unique experiences. Building a strong, trusting relationship is my priority, and I incorporate humor and authenticity to create an accepting and supportive environment.
My approach integrates psychodynamic principles and Internal Family Systems (IFS) with elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe that exploring the origins of beliefs and patterns can lead to meaningful, lasting change. I adopt a strengths-based feminist and multicultural perspective, believing context matters. Recognizing that everyone is the expert on their own life, I strive to meet clients where they are and foster a collaborative relationship.
I am passionate about helping clients navigate life transitions, explore their identity, address relationship challenges, and work through sexual trauma, shame, and gender-related concerns. I am committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community in an affirming manner and welcome individuals from all relationship structures. I am currently pursuing my AASECT certification.
When I’m not therapist-ing, I am spending time with my dog, Oscar (even when I am “therapist-ing!”), and husband, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I love trying new restaurants and recipes, traveling, and catching up on TV shows. I also play tennis, pickleball, and golf, and am a Formula 1 fan.
Charlotte is currently not in-network for any insurance providers, which means that she cannot bill your insurance company directly for your sessions. However, like all of our providers, Charlotte can provide a receipt (often referred to as a "superbill") for private pay services. These receipts contain all the details you need to request reimbursement for OUT-of-NETWORK costs from your insurance provider.
If you are engaging with us for services for which we cannot bill insurance, or with a provider who cannot bill your insurance), this is the best way to work with your insurance company to get this covered.
Because of our small size and billing arrangements with Headway, StorieBrook CANNOT bill insurance for:
Assessments (including pre-surgical, gender affirming care, neurotype, or any other time limited services
Support groups (or any other non-therapy services)
Relationship therapy or counseling
